**Two Chosen Sisters Two Symbols One purpose**

DebbyCakes and ShirleyGirl are sisters by choice with hearts full of faith, creativity, and simple auntie wisdom. Through original songs and video messages, they share gentle reminders to keep going, keep growing, and keep shining every single day.

Our purpose is to leave everyone they encounter better than they found them. Whether through a smile, tears of joy, laughter, or a moment of realization, every positive step is another step toward increasing one's value and finding greater peace.

Two Symbols

Debby reflects the butterfly resilient, transformed, and flourishing. Though butterflies appear delicate, they are remarkably strong and determined. Even with a damaged wing, they continue to pollinate flowers, helping life bloom around them. Debby embodies that same spirit of perseverance and hope. She is the auntie who gives butterfly kisses.

Shirley reflects the sunflower majestic, steadfast, and always reaching toward the light. Like the sunflower that awakens each day with its face turned toward the sun, she represents new beginnings, growth, and reaching for greater heights. Tall and strong, the sunflower's seeds nourish, fortify, and satisfy, just as Shirley's words and presence encourage those around her. She is the auntie who gives gracious sunflower hugs.

Our Story

Our story began more than 30 years ago in a workplace training class. They clicked instantly.

Just a few days into training, Shirley was involved in an accident. She was literally hit by a Mack truck. Thankfully, by the grace of God she was okay. Although they had only known each other for a short time, Debby immediately felt as though she could have potentially lost someone she had known her entire life. An unbreakable bond was formed in that moment.

At the time, Debby was a wife and the mother of three children. Shirley was finishing college, yet her maturity far exceeded her years. That maturity was evident in the loving care she gave her mother as her health began to decline, faithfully becoming her caregiver.

Shirley naturally stepped into the role of "Auntie" to Debby's children, two of whom were more than half her age. Likewise, Debby became part of Shirley's family. Their families fit together as naturally as their friendship.

Shirley is the queen of quips and witty sayings. She affectionately gave Debby the nickname DebbyCakes and was always saying or doing something that prompted Debby to laugh and exclaim, "Shirley Girl!"

Of course, Debby's mouth is just as jazzy. Whether telling someone to "sit their simple self down" or teasing her youngest son that "it would be a shame to knock the black off of him when his color was just coming in," she always keeps everyone laughing.

The two are remarkably alike. Shirley's inquisitive nature has never been satisfied with simply asking questions. Instead, she famously says, "Make me understand." She also never misses an opportunity to remind Debby that her hair is "soft like cotton candy."

Together, they have celebrated life's greatest joys—marriages, the birth of children (Shirley's, no more for Debby!), and career successes. They have also walked hand in hand through life's deepest sorrows, including the loss of Shirley's parents, Debby's stepfather, all four of Debby's grandparents, beloved aunts, and cousin as well as Debby's precious firstborn child.

Through every triumph and every heartbreak, one thing has never been in question: they would always be there for one another.

Over three decades, they have shared countless memories, offered one another wisdom and encouragement, laughed until they cried, and undoubtedly forgotten just as many stories as they still remember.

Some people are born into a family. Others are chosen.

For DebbyCakes and ShirleyGirl, DNA was never required. Their friendship became sisterhood, and that is who they will always be to one another
